How to nail your CFP submission

If you’re not an ‘expert speaker’, conference CFP’s can be a bit daunting. We’ve made ours as simple as possible - but we’ve also put together this guide to how to make your submission easy to complete.

It seems obvious to say, but the most important thing about your submission is the content. The most successful talks are those that are most relevant to the audience - so if you think it’s interesting, your peers probably will too. People love practical tips and tools they can apply to their work, but they also love a good story. While we look for most of our talks to have wide appeal, we also keep a couple of spaces for ‘wildcard’ talks that can be a little more out there.

Talk title

Give your talk a snappy title that helps people (including us) get what it’s about at a glance. Keep it short (better for skim reading on mobile), make it clear and make it memorable.

Talk description

This is for the website listing if your talk is selected. It should be between 100 and 150 words and be written in the third person. Include what you’ll cover, and what the audience can expect to learn as a result.

Previous talks

We welcome talks from experienced speaks, total beginners and everyone in between. If there are any videos online of you speaking, whether it’s at a huge conference or a tiny meetup, please do give us the links - if there aren’t don’t worry!

Biography

If your talk is selected, we’ll need a bio for the website. Write it in 3rd person and keep it to around 100 words. If you’ve worked on any projects that our audience might have heard of, feel free to mention these.
